Carpe Diem! Seize the day, that’s the meaning of the phrase from Dead Poets Society. The phrase Carpe Diem is mentioned in one of my favorite movies, which opened up my artistic view. Sure, the movie focused on poetry, but to me, it was more than that. I like to live by Carpe Diem and seize the day to the fullest. With photography, it’s seizing the day, because you're doing what you love, which is what I am doing. My name is Yanissa Romo, but I also like to go by Yani. I’m a portrait photographer and photojournalist.

 

I wasn’t always into photography, I wanted to pursue event management previously. I soon found photography to be my true passion. I’m always amazed seeing the photos other photographers take, and I wanted to be that person to say, “Wow, that's a photo?”. That has always been my goal in photography, I want to give that same sense of inspiration to others. That is why I have been taking photos for 4+ years and learned so much. I’m based in Austin, TX, and love everything photography offers, from that sense of creativity to the allowance of freedom of expression. I hope to apply these with you and create that self-expression that expresses your inner self.
